Do you have this email setup on the local exchange server? You have the domain as an accepted domain? Is this user enabled?

How to run any project with ease

Manage projects of all sizes how you want. Great for personal to-do lists, project milestones, team priorities and launch plans.

if the user's mailbox is on 2003 then i believe you need to add the domain to the 2003 server.
