How do I EASILY get video on a WordPress website?

I am using the latest WordPress release 3.7.1 and want to display a video on the homepage. I have the video in mp4 format, uploaded it to the media library, and then click on view (from within the CP). It does not play. The ring spins around, but nothing loads. The video is 20mb and works fine on my computer.

I then tried the flowplayer plugin, and after installation and activation, I created a video using this uploaded file, but instead of seeing a video on the page, I see [flowplayer id="1330"]

Questions:
1. there is supposed to be video available in the CORE. How do I access it?
2. If this core code is not working well, or if there is a better solution, what is it? I need something that is without cost, does not have a watermark, and will allow me to have a small video player on the homepage (with a button for full screen viewing).

1. Actually, yes.  WordPress uses mediaelement.js to playback right in core.

You would just use [video src="file name.mp4"] to play it.

2. There are all kinds of plugins that will do video playback.  If you go this route, I would lean towards using the JW Media Player for WordPress:

As it will support what you ask for.  Alternately (and my usual preference) is to upload the video to YouTube, set it to unlisted for privacy purposes (if desired) and then just embed it and turn off the related videos option.  You get a very clean player that works on iOS devices and bandwidth is Google's problem, not yours.
