Error :IntelXXXXx  Base Fast Ethernet Adapter is hidden from the network connections folder, because it is not physically in the computer

Hi
We virtualise our window 2003 server and we had done a DHCP reservation for this server. Now I wanted to change the DNS server address and I went to the LAN card properties and assigned the same IP address statically rather than "obtain an IP address manually"

After entering all the IP information, when I say OK . I get The IP address you have entered for this network is already assigned to another adapter IntelXXXx-Base Fast Ethernet Adapter(generic). IntelXXXXx  Base Fast Ethernet Adapter is hidden from the network connections folder, because it is not physically in the computer.
Even after enabling show hidden devices in  Computer management , I am not able to see this the old LAN adapter

How to I remove this

Any suggestions will be very helpful.

It should have given you the option to Change the IP address or leave it, this is a deceiving message as you are supposed to say no I don't want to change what I just set, make it so instead of selecting the Yes please change what I just entered.
