Sonic firewall 205

Unsure exactly what the issue is. Could be misconfiguration in the sonic wall or a speed/duplex mismatch.

Mac Users can connect, but a windows laptop or the external interface on the firewall cannot. I am able to connect to the firewall directly to the Verizon router in the basement with windows laptop and Mac computers.

The firewall can connect but not when upstairs in the suite where it has to be. Mac computer connects in the basement and the suite.

FIOS Verizon is in the basement and I can connect all computers no problem. A cable run from the basement to upstairs in the suite going to patch panel then to the TZ205 sonic and that's where the problem connecting windows laptop is the issue not macs.

I could connect to the sonic firewall remotely no problem. Any suggestions to resolve windows computer and external devices to connect. Is it auto negotiations?

I would appreciate someone getting back to me ASAP today.
Thank you

Are you saying that mac's work ok whether connected in the basement or in the office, and windows computer only work in the basement but not in the office?

What do you mean by "connect"? Internet access?

I assume that the WAN interface of the Sonicwall is connect to the patch panel in the office and the LAN interface to a switch. Is this correct?

Do you have fixed ip addresses with FIOS? Are you using fixed ip's on your LAN subnet?

Did this ever work, or is it new?

Have you set the correct default gateway on the pc's? It should point to the LAN ip of the Sonicwall.

What are you using for dns?

Cable is plugged from FIOS box straight to sonic wall WAN X1 port
I tried Auto negation, Full duplex 1 Gbps, and the link is still down
When I change it to 100 mbps full duplex link comes on for 5 second then drops repeatedly.
When I change it to 10 mbps full duplex link is solid but the ping fails.

Correction:

No computers can connect to the internet when the sonic wall is connected to the second floor when sonic is connected from WAN X1-patch panel- down to  FIOS box in the basement.

I am suspecting the new version has a bug or I may need to revert to my old backup version

Sonic OS version 5.9.0.1 (New version)
Sonic OS version 5.8.1.13 old (backup version)

HI Ross67429,

FYI: SonicOS 5.9.0.1 was an Early Release. An Early (or Preview) Release firmware includes new features or incremental changes to a previous release. It has not yet reached a level of maturity required for a General Release through criteria such as length of time in the field and a large install base. Early Releases are fully supported and have gone through full QA and Beta cycles. Please refer to release notes for full details on new features or changes.

SonicWALL has since replaced 5.9.0.1 with a new Early Release 5.9.0.2 and has been stable for all of our production units thus far. But nevertheless, the General Release is going to be the most stable unless there are specific bugs in the General Release, which are addressed in the Early or Hotfix Release.

Glad you got it resolved!
Cheers.

The new version has a bug so I had to revert to my old backup version
