SCCM 2007 R2 Maintenance Windows

We have an SCCM 2007 R3 infrastructure

I am in a bit of a pickle at the moment as I have deployed the updates to a main collection (which does not have any resources/objects) and its sub collections (which contains all the resources/objects)

It is only after deploying the updates that I realised that I haven't set the maintenance windows on the sub-collections.

If I set the maintenance windows now will it take effect at all on the existing updates and if so when (can this be triggered to take effect immediately)

If these maintenance windows wont take effect on the existing updates, how can I stop the updates immediately as come Monday I will be in big trouble if the updates install during work hours (8 am - 6 pm)

Any help in this regard will be immensely appreciated.

You can delete the deployment and this will remove the advertisement. You then can create a new update advertisement with your maintenance windows settings in place.

I would wait a day before creating the new advertisement just to make sure the machines advertisement has been removed

Thank you for getting back to me yo_bee. Will deleting these from under Deployment Management work?
I have deployed 5 years ' updates and hence if I delete it from within Deployment Mansgement (provided this is what I need to do) will I have to run a software updates scan or something to stop these end nodes from processing the job?

Do you have a single package that the advertisement references?  I am just stating delete the newly created advertisement.

There are multiple packages unfortunately.
What I have done yesterday is remove the entries/updates from within Updates Management and started running a Machine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle on each of the sub-collections.
My plan to wait for  day and then set it up afresh.
I am hoping this will work.

Can I ask why do you have multiple packages for your update?

We had to stop IIS on the 3 primary servers to resolve an issue with one of the sites this morning. But before that I had deleted the entries from the Updates Management and also disabled the Software updates client agent on the primary server.
