If these 64-bit (you didn't tell us the bitness of your SuSE) drivers in RPM format don't work
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/pubsw-linux/p1247939086/v89014/hp-tg3sd-1.0.12-1.x86_64.rpm
could you open a terminal, run
$ dmesg | grep -i ethernet
and post the results for us here, please?

This is a 32bit version (x86), and that command does not return anything....

The other consideration here (and really important) is the server does not have any compiler installed (and I have to keep it in that way)....

Then download
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/pubsw-linux/p1390237103/v89013/hp-tg3sd-1.0.12-1.i586.rpm

And install using
# rpm -ivh hp-tg3sd-1.0.12-1.i586.rpm

or
# yast2 -i hp-tg3sd-1.0.12-1.i586.rpm

I've never seen a linux with configure and make stripped out, though... so if you ever need the source, it's at http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/pubsw-linux/p122860230/v80081/hp-tg3-3.125g-2.src.rpm
