given the X240 and T440 are due or available, i would have thought there would be a T540, but its not a model i'm familiar with, we use the W530 range for heavy duty use, and X230/T430 for everything else.  

Could be that its delayed with the new Haswell chipsets (4th Gen CPU), and they need the newer boards for the size of model.  The model was announced in Sept, but stocks of all the new units are low, we're stilling buying T430's.  Likely a Q1 2014 release.
