We have a request from user to restore previous version of document from one of the site collection. Unfortunately, the document versioning wasn't enabled for this site collection.

How do I restore the individual document from backup?

AvePoint released a free item level restore tool some time ago;

http://www.avepoint.com/assets/pdf/news/Press%20Release%20-%20AvePoint%20release%20FREE%20Recovery%20from%20SQL%20Backups%20-%20GLOBAL%20FINAL.pdf

You have to install the DocAve free trial to get hold of it.

It's called 'SQL Restore Controller'
