Exhange Server 2007 in SBS2008 - Need to link large files that were attachments but detached.
We have a concern for storing large attachments within emails
- We currently have a 16.8 GB Public Folder.
- the users PST file sizes are controlled and can not be larger then 4GB but prefer users not to get that large by cleaning up and detaching attachments when possible. Users would dump these emails with large attachments into the Public Folders if they are required to keep them
- We want to control how large out PST files and the Public Folders get
- We would like to find a way we could detach the large attachments we send or receive (if they are very large) to a storage location but if we wanted to search for this email later in time, is there a way to link the attachment associated with the email.
Is there a configuration in Outlook and/or Exchange that allows you to link up to the attachment that you detached from an email? If a user needs to recall an email received or sent 2 months ago, they find the email and obviously with no attachment, is there a way to re-link to where the attachment is actually saved?

You would need 3rd party software.
