Syncing tasks between SharePoint 2013 and Exchange/Outlook 2010

I'm looking into showing some teams here where I'm at how to sync tasks in SharePoint 2013 with their Outlook environment (Exchange/Outlook 2010).

The documentation I'm finding is showing me that I need at least Exchange 2013 to make it happen.  Does anyone know a workaround to make this happen with what I'm currently running here?

You can make SharePoint 2013 sync with Exchange 2010 - but you need a piece of software to interface those two products.  That software is called Exchange 2013.

Kinda snarky, considering I mentioned in the question that I had seen that using Exchange 2013 was the only way to do this.  Just wanted to see if there was a workaround that anyone had either created or tried to make this work.

Sorry for the snark.  It was funny when I wrote it at the end of a long day.  I knew you had read that, and perhaps could have worded my confirmation a bit better.

You can install an exchange 2013 server to bridge the two environments though, without having to move mailboxes or client-access to the 2013 server.

All the best,
Joel
