Quickbooks Point of Sale Loses Connection to Quickbooks Enterprise

QB POS loses connection to QB Financial. Restarting the QBPOS Database Manager v9 service will restore the connection.

Database Manager V9 is pretty old. Did you upgrade QuickBooks without upgrading the Database Manager?

Get your QB CD, go to the server, uninstall the Server Manager, install the new one from the CD and scan for the company file again.

These guys are on POS version 9.0 ... linking with QB Financial Enterprise 14.0 ... would an upgrade of the POS Database Manager still apply?
John

I am not entirely certain, but generally, the Server Manager is backward compatible but not forward compatible.

So then, so long as you have the install files for both server managers, try the newer one on the server. I think QB Enterprise V14 may not work well with the older server manager and that may be why you are having connection problems.

Make sure also you are using mapped drives and not browsing for the QB Company file.

Where can I acquire server manager updates online?
John

When you download QuickBooks, or when Intuit sends you the DVD, the Server Manager is on that DVD or in that file. Go to the Server, run the QB setup and before you get too far, select the option that says something like "server install, no license required". It is normally the bottom option and does NOT install the QB client, only the Server Manager.

The problem really boils down to the version of POS being too old to be successfully syncing with the newest version of Quickbooks financial.
