compare 2 columns of data in different worksheets

Good morning,
I have a list of numbers in column B in a worksheet called 2012 and I need to compare them to another similar column B of numbers in another worksheet called 2013. I need to be able to highlight (change color of cell background) if exact number exists in original Column B. The numbers are 6 figure numbers each time.

Is this what your looking for ?

Activate the macros in the file and in sheet 2012 press on the button Compare 2012 2013 for your convenience and check I have put in Col C the row number of the item found in sheet 2013 so you can compare and make sure the macro works fine. Then this can safely be removed.

Check it out and let me know.

Thanks for replying. That is fantastic :-) but it also highlights empty cells. If it can be tweaked not to highlight empty cells then it would be perfect
