Hi experts,

I have friends who have a laptop with Windows 8, and a printer « HP Printer Laser jet p1005 ».

The problem is that they have bought the laptop in February this year, and the printer worked fine.

But since 2 monthes, the printer doesn’t work. They have tried to repair, uninstall & re-install it, without success.

I have checked : when I launch the installation cd, all seems to process fine, the printer appears in the devices panel. But when the install process ask me to connect & turn on the printer, nothing happens ; the process is frozen.
Although the printer appears on the list, it is unusable.

I have try with another cable, without success.

I have also try to install it on another laptop (Windows XP) and it works fine.

On the HP website and on other pages (forum, etc.), all say that it is compatible with Windows 8.

I have also try to install the last up-to-date pilot. Nothing new.

Please help, any idea would be appreciated, I have already pulling off half my hair :-)

Thanks.

Uninstall the printer again. Then in the Devices and Printers window, click on any other printer to bring up the sub menu. Go to the Print Server Properties tab and then to the Drivers tab.

Find the P1005 driver and remove it (delete it).

Now shut the computer down, restart it and try installing the printer again.

Thanks thinkpads,

As it’s not my laptop, I will only be able to try it this evening.

I’ll tell you the result of your solution.
