I have had an Adsense account for about 10 yrs.
They show earnings for
www.roofgenius.com
and
roofgenius.com
whats the difference ?

They CAN be different if the web administrator wishes it.  
They are technically different DNS A records but in most cases they point to the same place.
Not all websites work without the www though because someone forgot or chose not to put the A record on the main address.

Does this mean the user did not type the www to get to roofgenius.com ?

yes and the Adsense recorded it as a seperate site since technically it can be seperate.
