I wanted to see if it is possible the following in Filemaker:
1. Copy/Paste formatting from one field to another.
2. Add a formatting toolbar to the top of a particular field.

In Layout Mode, you can copy the applied formatting for a field to another field, including Fill and Border by click on the the field that already formatted then clicking the "Format Painter" tool - a paintbrush icon at the end of the Layout tools - and then clicking on the field to be formatted. If you double-click on the Painter tool it will stay in the mode so you can click multiple objects.

In answer to you second question, there is no way to add a standard formatting toolbar above an individual field. However, you could do the following:

- Create a layout with just that field on it and use scripting to switch to that layout and turn on the Formatting toolbar in the Status area at the top of the screen. When done you can also turn off the Formatting toolbar via a script step.

- Add scripted buttons above the field that apply specific types of formatting using the Set Field() script step and the various TextFormatting functions. For example, if you want to apply Bold to the value in a field called "Price" in the PRoducts table it would look like this:

TextStyle( Products::Price ; bold )

To also make it Red, it might look like this:

TextColor( TextStyle( Products::Price ; bold ) ; RGB( 155 ; 00 ; 00 )
