Cannot Play WMV

Getting error :
WMP cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer.

Using Windows Media Player 12-

How can I fix without needing to install different player?

Have you tried to install the codec pack from microsoft?

If that doesn't work try the K-Lite codecs:

For this issue, I would normally recommend VLC, an excellent (free) product that I've been using for many years:

It has all of the codecs built in. But since you said that you don't want to install a different player, I suggest the K-Lite Codec Pack:

VLC and all four editions of the K-Lite Codec Pack (Basic, Standard, Full, Mega) support W7...and also W8. Regards, Joe
