Dell 3115CN PCL6 Printer issue: does not print word, pdf etc however prints the test page ok

Hi,

My client has got the issue with printing pdf, word etc documents. However, when I tried to print a test page from the Properties of the printer - no problems.

He also struggles to print out emails. Sometimes a restart of the printer helps. When you try to print from Word (office 2010) you get the error: printer not installed. When you try .pdf file nothing happens. no error.

He can scan from the printer to the laptop ok. I am puzzled, any ideas?
Will be very grateful for help.

I have repaired the installation of the Adobe and MS Office 2010 but no change.
Run a printer trouble-shooter - no problems found.

Did you consider updating the printer driver or adding another language such as PCL5 or PS?

I did update the printer drivers - did not help
I have not take into consideration adding PCL5 or PS

can you test with another printer, or test this printer on another PC? it can be bad

it is not bad and believe what happened today is something that does make a logical sense.
We connected the printer via Ethernet cable to the router leaving the USB connection in place. The printer prints now fine. We have not done anything since yesterday apart from connecting network cable
