One of our client machines cannot open pdf files from sharepoint with Adobe reader XI.  I can open these files with other pdf viewers and I can open them from another client machine.  I have set Sharepoint to permissive, set the adobe to allow internet pdfs, checked the Webclient service, and checked the docicon.xml on the server, still cannot get this single client to open pdfs from Sharepoint 2010.

If the pdf files opens fine with other client machines then there is nothing wrong with docicon.xml or webclient service. Check with the browser versions specifically on that machine and also compare the Adobe version running on other client machine. Also ensure that browser file handing is set to permissive. Sending u a link which can add more knowledge to your views.

It is set as permissive, tested a similar system(Windows 8 Pro, IE 10, Reader 11.0.5) and everything worked fine.  Sharepoint is mapped as a webdav location on all of the pcs.  I will be doing a clean renistall of Adobe XI today and will share the results.

Even after the clean install Adobe XI would not work, so we downgraded to Adobe Reader 9.5 and it was working again.
