self-made rechargeable batteries for laptops

http://www.cultofmac.com/158463/make-an-external-battery-for-your-macbook-for-under-60-how-to/

Based on the above link's info, is it possible to DIY just about
any batteries (if I use the 12V rechargeables) for my laptops
(mine are Lenovo X61, X210, X220, Macbook Pro 13" retina
 & Acer Travelmate) ?

In theory sure.  All the laptop cares about is getting the right power at the right voltage/amps.  It does not care what is at the other end of the cable.

If you just Google "external laptop battery schematics" you will have tons of results.  That being said, a kludged solution of a dozen batteries seems like a major inconvenience in most cases, and unless you have a lot of existing experience with soldering and electrical engineering talent there is going to be quite a learning curve.

Sites like Instructables have good tutorials for things like this.  Good luck!

Could you suggest a couple of user-friendly instructables sites?
Thanks

This one looks decent, though I have not done it myself.

To be able to run my Lenovo & Macbook Pro 13" off AA
batteries would be awesome.
