IE8 Deployment using SCCM WSUS

We are testing deployment of IE8 to Windows XP devices that have IE7 (old world - i know)

I am deploying IE8 as an update using SCCM 2007 R2

However I come across 3 devices (out of 10) that show (SCCM Client Centre) Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 7 being installed but am unable to uninstall either one using SCCM client centre as the uninstall button is disabled.

The reason i want to try and uninstall it as the end users when they try to access IE8 get error 54 and they go into Help with IE it still shows IE7.
However when I checked Add Remove Programs on the actual device it is showing IE8 and not IE7.

Users are unable to get into google or type in any text box after this.

I am having to run Add Remove programs as admin and uninstall IE8 and reboot the system.

Anyone come across this issue and if so what can I do to resolve the issue?

Have you tried to reinstall the IE 8 from Web again?

A restart resolves the issue with IE8 however when I look under Add/Remove programs Internet Explorer 7 is also showing in addition to Internet Explorer 8.
Any way I can remove this entry as IE7 has been over written by IE8

Maybe in the registry
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\<Some Key there>
but i would not recommend this.
Maybe this helps
