I use WSUS 3 on Server Standard 2003.  Have XP and Office 2003 on all clients.
Have been using it for a few years.  Around 6 months ago I had to approve Office 2013 updates to make it possible for 2003 to read 2013 documents.  Since then my WSUS folder has jumped from 10 GB to 37 GB.  There are so many updates that are not needed at all.
Today over 100 were downloaded.  One month ago 250 updates were downloaded.

eg.
64 bit versions of everything
I don't have any 64 bit machines at all.

Microsoft Sharepoint Enterprise Server updates
I don't have any Enterprise servers or sharepoint

Yes I have looked in the update download filter and confirmed that only a few needed things are ticked.

Isn't it possible to have better control over the filtering of updates to be downloaded.

There is no MS provided architecture based filtering  on download side.

But try this

This can decline itanium updates.
