Windows 8 screen goes black after 1-2 minutes of inactivity

I have updated the video drivers.  I have set the power settings to not turn off until 30 minutes without battery and 45 minutes on battery.  The computer screen still goes black after 1-2 minutes of inactivity.  What do you think is causing this problem and how can I solve the problem?
