IE cannot open any web pages

I am running Windows 7 sp1 32 bit.  When I try to open web pages in IE11 none open.  I get a popup stating  "Unable to open the search page".  Meanwhile in Firefox and Chrome, I'm able to open web pages just fine.  No problem.  malware scans are negative.  Viruses are negative.

Doesn't matter what web address I put in, I get the error.

If I type in http://<web address> e.g. http://www.cnn.com I am still unable to open any page, but I don't get the popup, just the standard page could not be displayed error.  Any ideas?

Actually I did reset IE but it didn't fix the problem.  It turned out I needed to restart my router and the problem went away.  What threw me though is that my Firefox and Chrome were working just fine while IE couldn't do a thing.  Strange.
