Google Voice Voicemail when Calls Forwarded to Cell

Hi,

I have a small business for which I'd like to use a Google voice number I have set up and forward all incoming calls to my cell phone.  However, if I miss a forwarded call the caller hears my personal voicemail. I'd like them to hear the voicemail greeting for my company.  Similarly, I'd like individuals dialing my cell phone number not receive the business greeting, but my personal greeting.

Is there a setting on Google voice wherein a forwarded call that is not be picked up on the forwarded cell is directed to the Google voicemail greeting?  Sprint is my wireless carrier.

If not, understanding what I'm trying to do, are there any alternatives to getting a separate line all together, whether that line be standard or internet based (vonnage, etc.).

Many thanks,

Artie

In the Google Voice setting there is a tab for Voicemails and Text. Under that tab you can assign a specific voicemail greeting for those that dial your Google Voice number. This would be your business voicemail.

People that call your regular Sprint issued cell phone number will hear the voicemail that your cell phone currently has and have no interaction with the Google Voice number.

But when the calls are forwarded to the cell number, won't the cell phone's voicemail pickup?

On the voicemail screen, where do I designate the specific voicemail greeting for those that dial the Google Voice number?

Attached are screenshots of my VM and Phone tab in GV.

Thanks for the thoughts.

On the voicemail tab you just record a new name and greeting with the respective buttons. This is what anyone who calls your Google Voice number will hear when they dial that specific number only.

People that dial your Sprint assigned number will have no interaction with your Google Voice number, voicemail, or settings. They will hear the voicemail assigned on your phone.

Is the first paragraph true even if you have your Google voice number forwarded to the cell? When I call my Google voice number from a landline my cell then rings and when I don't pick that up, my personal voicemail is picking up. I don't know which part is not set up correctly.

Record a new voicemail message and see if it gives you the option to make it the default for incoming calls. Its been a while since I had to do it so I don't really remember.

I know Sprint has a special integration with Google voice. I would suggest trying to contact them and see if they can talk you through it or set something on their side that might be causing it. If the message is set, it should play the GV message and not your personal voicemail.

Ok. Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll try reaching out to Sprint.

Interesting caveat.  If you setup your google voice voicemail as you describe above, the GV VM greeting picks up when you miss a call on your cell, as you described and I couldn't get to work...  So long as you let the call ring out and genuinely "miss" it.  IF you decline the call, at least on an iPhone, that sends the GV call into your personal voicemail greeting.  Interesting nuance.

Thanks for the help.
