I have a basic workflow setup in Sharepoint.  I am using Sharepoint and Designer 2010.  How do I include a link in the email for the manager to be able to review the item and then click on approved?

Hello,

I assume you have already created the workflow for the email. In the body field of the email enter

<a href="http://<ServerName>/<SiteName>/lists/<ListName>/dispform.aspx?ID={<ListItemID>}>Link Text</a>

In order to insert {<ListItemID>} in the above link, use the Add Lookup to Body button to add a reference to the item's ID.

This will then create a link to the item. The email recipient can click the link and will see the view window for that item. If the item is awaiting approval and the email recipient has approver privileges, they will see an "Approve" command in the ribbon.

On the other hand, you could just use the out of the box SharePoint approval workflow that routes approvals to the specified people and creates emails and links to the item without any actions on your side.

cheers, teylyn
