Seeking Wordpress plugin for managing user profiles (ie: user registration, edit profile, access premium content, etc)

I'm looking for recommendations on Wordpress plugins that allow for the managing of user profiles (free or paid -- no preference -- just as long as it does what I need it to).

More specifically, I'm looking to build a Wordpress site that allows users to fill out and submit a registration form (which I'd have the ability to build/customize however I want), --- and once the person is logged in, they'll then be granted access to premium content (ie: the main navigation menu would display some additional links to pages that can only be accessed by logged in users).

Ideally, I should also have the ability to add some kind of short tag or markup to my custom Wordpress templates that would allow me to restrict access to those pages/templates as well (ie: users should only be able to access them if they're logged in).

Does anyone here have any recommendations for me?

I'm already aware of how to search the Wordpress plugins repository ... so please refrain from posting links to their search results page. Direct links to recommended plugins that have all of the features I've outlined are preferred.

Thanks!

s2member.  It exists as a free version and a pro version so you can get started with it without a financial cost and upgrade to the paid version if that's a feature you need.  If you don't like it as you build with it during the free phase, you are out a little time only.  It's available on the repository and also here:
