Do you have enough free space on your hard drive?

Check the Energy Saver prefs panel and make sure it is set so that your computer is not going to sleep.

yes, has enough free space and does not go to sleep.  So it starts downloading at around 3mb/s and then after about 1 or 2 mins just cuts out.

Maybe the Apple servers are busy. You could try a bit later.

Try opening Launchpad, find the page containing the Mavericks icon and hold the Option button on your keyboard. Once you do, an X should appear right next to the icon. Click the X and try restarting the download in the App Store.

Have console open when you start the download and see if there are any error messages when it quits.

Also, open disk utility and run Verify Disk and Repair Permissions on your hard drive.

Does Verify Disk show your drive to have any errors?

Ran the Repair which finished.  Then tried to download again and get the following error message in the console

What was the result of Verify Disk?

It may be a problem with your ISP. What sort of a connection do you have? Have you tried downloading it elsewhere? At work? At an internet cafe? Local Starbucks?

Here are several more suggestions. If one works, please let us know:

(The link above suggests that the Quest 2Wire modems block downloads larger than 2 GB)

In any case, try downloading somewhere else - Apple Store, Starbucks, from home, Internet Cafe...

Also, if you have virus software, try turning it off.

So the problem was the ISP - it would get to 995mb and then cut out.  Took it home and worked.  Maverick is installed.

  Thanks again for your suggestions
