Hello Experts,

I am in the process of retooling myself, I've learned the fundamentals of C# and have been playing with Ruby. If I want to do programming on the side what should I learn, what is the market for ruby.  I've been doing web data driven business applications with ASP.NET since  version 1.1 for big to mid size companies  and now am working on 4.0  going to 4.5. I have limited time so I need to find out where to focus, do I need HTML5 and JavaScript to do web development with Ruby on rails?, how about with .NET MVC?.

Can you give me suggestions on what will be the fastest way to become proficient, using pluralsight find my mind wondering away. I showed it to a peer and the comment was "It took that guy one minute to explain something I can read in few seconds".

I don't know what the market you target uses, but if you want to learn ROR I found these screencasts to be usefull: http://ruby.railstutorial.org/

Basically you see a guy code a whole app, using TDD (test driven development).
