Windows Backup Hard Drive full

2008 r2

I have one windows backup job that is going to a usb external drive.  its a terabyte in size and now it is full.  The backup drive has two folders.

System Volume Information
Windowsbackupimage

system volume information is the huge one.
there are these sid's it looks like and each one of them measure between 5 and 15 gigabytes.
there are 80 recovery points with one each daily.  Whats the best way to make room for more backups to complete.  also, is there an option for windows backup up to automatically delete the oldest files for room for the newest.

You are making volume snapshots and vhd backups at the same time. The question is why? In System Volume Information the volume snapshots are stored. And Windows Image backup directory stores what Windows Backup saves. Go to advanced system properties and delete there some old snapshots. If I remember it correctly then you can specify how much space to devote for snapshots.
