CITRIX Printing

Our company just implemented that our users need to go through CITRIX to access some of our applications.  The problem that I are having is that when I try to print, a message box is is asking to install the printer driver.  If I am not logged into CITRIX then I do not have a problem printing.  How do I install printer drivers in the CITRIX environment.

The simple answer is because the driver in question isn't installed on the Citrix server.

My professional recommendation though is to use the Citrix Universal Print Device (Citrix UPD) for client printers and where native drivers aren't available - do not allow users to install random drivers.

For network printers do some research before you blithely throw untested drivers onto the Citrix servers.

You don't mention which version of Citrix you have or the underlying OS. Do you have a dedicated print server estate? This is a preferred method for Citrix environments.

So in essence - test the printer drivers you have in the corp environment; install them if they are proven to be stable and don't crash the spooler.

Install the UPD and use it for printers with no native drivers.

Configure the Citrix policies to use the above rules.
