Visual Studio 2012 Reports - Crystal Reports?

What is the best way of providing reports in a Visual Studio 2012 project?  I thought I read someplace that the relationship with Crystal Reports was not as tight as it once was.

Does Microsoft encourage the use of something else now?  Perhaps the Reporting functionality found in SQL Server?  (Yes, the data I wish to report on is in a SQL Server database).

Thanks In Advance

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The relation is not the same since SAP bought CR a couple of years ago.

MS is pushing really hard on their SQL Server Report engine.

There are also a couple of third party products like Telerik Reports and Active Reports you can use.

Now that you say that, I think that's what I saw where their paths started growing apart.

Have you seen any good tutorials or resources or what not where someone could get there feet we regarding using the Sql Server Report engine in VB .NET?

I have one for CR which I still use (http://emoreau.com/Entries/Articles/2006/09/Feeding-Crystal-Reports-from-your-application.aspx) but not for SQL Report
