VLC | Adding custom time overlay on video

Hello,

I have a video that I want to crop and use the bottom right part.
The issue is, the date and time stamp is located in the top left of the video. Hence when I crop the video, I lose the date and time information.

Is there a solution to manually create a timestamp overlay on the crop video with the matching timestamp on the original video?

Many thanks

You'll need Cyberlink power director or similar video editor to fade out the current text on each frame by frame once modified you add in the new text where you want it using the inbuilt tools
What tools do you have?
To crop the video you can use  free Virtual Dub, free windows moviemaker, any tool that offers a time line where you drop your video and has a curser to mark in and mark out.
Not VLC??
I'd have to test one to see what windows movie maker can do with frames.
To my knoweledge it doesnt have the tools to fade text already on the video but it can be used to add text/credits captiosn etc and position where you like

VLC can add date and time overlay as stated here - https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Modules/time

But I want to insert custom date and time.

VLC can also crop video - https://wiki.videolan.org/Crop/

Ideally I want to use the Merge & Crop & Time Overlay statements together

Hi
thanks for that feedback, yes i now see what you're talking about.
It's all in the details :)
you never mentioned this in script?
I have no scripting experience so can't help you with that.
I can do this in my Cyberlink Power Director 10
This looks similar to what you are asking>
 Adobe Premier Pro with VLC
Using timecode as subtitle showing date and time

with reference to>>Ideally I want to use the Merge & Crop & Time Overlay statements together<< in VB?
VLC to my knoweledge is for video streaming, can capture and convert as well as for video editing and scripting I don't know. At a guess I'd say no as it doesnt have a timeline.
A timeline is essential.
