Visual Studio 2010, SharePoint Designer 2013

I can connect to my office 365 online SP site with Designer locally, but when i go to create an SP project in VS locally and select the same address for debugging as I used with Designer, it won't validate that address. Can I even create VS WSPs for Office 365 SharePoint?

Hi,
this is not possible (with VS2010). First of all SharePoint Online / Office 365 is based on SharePoint 2013 and VS2010 does not know anything about this newer version. Second there are some limitations on the SharePoint side due to the multi-tenant installation of SharePoint online.

A good overview / starting point is this presentation:

I would even recommend to use VS 2013 as the SharePoint integration is even better.
