Web Counter on Joomla 3.2.1 - How to check

Say,

We are using Joomla 3.2.1 to operate our website, however we have no information on how many people have accessed our website. We want to know how can we enable the function of Joomla to show us this information (site administrators) without the client or external individual browsing to seeing it as well.

We want this information to inform us how many people access our website on a daily basis, what links or pages did they visit & whether or not they struggled to complete the survey.

Can you please help us in this regard

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

today no one uses a web counter they use Analytics and the most popular is Google analytics. you need a free account from
www.google.com/analytics   (top right create account)

then you need to install a free google analytics extension - its a plugin.
here's one:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/analytics/site-analytics-google-based/22562

but google "joomla 3 Google analytics" and see which one suits you.

this will tell you how many people where they live, what browser they use, how long they stay on your site and much much more..  you can set up goals to see if they successfully went form one page to another..

Do i have to send the ticket to Joomla forums??

I downloaded the plugin & installed it - it looks rather empty to me and has no tools to use...
Do you know what controls i should use because i have activated it but i cannot see it on my components tab?
Peter HartCommented:
I assume you set up the google analytics account and  web property ID for the domain in question.

then configured the plugin in Joomla with this ID.

then all the magic happens in the Google analytics accounts.

The plugin  makes sure the Google code is executed every time a website is accessed.

after 24 hours you will be able to go onto the google.com/analytics accounts and see the data being captured.
