This seems to be a network problem between the iphone and the google servers. There are a few things that might help you in your situation.

1.
Try forcing the Mail app to check for emails. Open the mail app so it shows your list of emails, pull downwards on the list so a little loading wheel pops up, then release the list. The phone will try to check for emails when it does.

(If your problem is about recieveing notifications about emails without forcing it to load then this won't help.)

2.
You might want to try and remove email account from your phone and re-enter it.

To do this open settings, go to Mail, Contacts, and calendars. Click on your email account and click "Delete Account." Next you are going to click add account, enter your information, and it should re-add your Gmail account to your iPhone.

3.
If the step above does not work you can try and re-set network settings.

Open settings, then go to general. At the bottom of the page you will see reset, open that menu and click "Reset network settings" There were be several warnings then your phone will restart. (Note this will erase any saved wi-fi passwords and other network settings.)

If the point of your issue is not receiving notifications about new emails then this is probably a server issue on google end. They may have changed the way they send out the push notifications. I hope this tips help!

Thanks! However, it is not phone or network related. It is linkedin to setup of gmail account on iphone. It s different then before and I suspect Google of doing this on purpose but I m not sure/looking for evidence ... and a workaround.

Thanks but I m not prepared to do any changes you proposed as I don t believe they could be the root cause at all.
if you don't try you cant eliminate the cause.

Root cause analysis is done laterally, eliminate the most likeley causes such as settings, network etc

however its your call.

Cheers
