SQL server 2008 R2 version 10.50.1600.1 issue cannot get into new database

I have just installed a SQL 2008 and now cannot get into the database install that I just created .

I have made sure the SQL browser service is running ( It was disabled )


HELP!

How do you try to logon? Through the SQL Server management Studio?
If so, do you connect with    servername\databasename

Then how are you authenticating? Windows/SQL or mixed mode?

If connecting from remote, did you enable TCP/IP and configure the open port 1433 and allow remote connections?

I have tried from management studio both mixed and windows mode

I am not remote I am right on the box
