VMRC Console has Disconnected - vSphere Client

I was able to install the vSphere 5.5 client on my Windows 8.1 Enterprise desktop since the older clients did not install.  Now whenever I try to use a VM's console I cannot connect and receive the message:

"The VMRC console has disconnected...attempting to reconnect."

Any ideas?

This is a known, issues and well documented issues with the VMware vSphere Client installed on Windows 8.1.

This has been fixed in the latest version of the VMware vSphere Client.

What have you installed, and which ESXi 5.x host are you trying to connect to?

(if you are connecting to ESXi 5.0) you will need this version of the client)

vSphere client VMware-viclient-all-5.0.0-913577.exe

which is from U3, and you'll probably need to update you build of ESXi 5.0 U? to U3.

There are *3* different versions of VMware vSphere 5.x client. The latest builds of all the clients has the issue fixed.

5.0, 5.1 and 5.5, you need the correct version of the client to communicate with your host.

e.g. 5.5 does not communicate with 5.0.

Are you using the FREE version of ESXi?

Thanks Andrew.  You just helped me get the newer client installed although I was successful on 5.5.  I am running version5.0.0 Build 623373.
