Samsung S3 Does Not Power On

I had a customer bring in a Samsung Galaxy S3 that it was stuck on the boot screen.  I tried to repair the issue with Odin, which did not work.  Then I tried Heimdall, but I just got lost...

I found out that Samsung Kies repairs this issue with a firmware upgrade and recovery.  So, I set up the phone to use Kies.  It started the recovery, downloaded the file, then sat at 0% for an hour.  After I was sure it was not doing anything, I restarted my computer and went to try again.

At this point, the phone does not turn on at all.  I don't know how to get it to turn on so I can try again.  Any suggestions?  It's a GT-I9300.

There is a trick to get the phone to turn on without power button:

1. Plug phone into power adapter.
2. Remove back cover.
*3. Remove battery.
*4. Remove power cable and place battery back in.
5. phone should start boot process automatically.

*This must be done quickly for this to work.

Thank you for the quick response.  I tried your suggestion several times to no avail...

Any other suggestions?

By the way, apparently since this phone is an International phone, Samsung USA does not offer support.  I would have to call the UK (which I do not want to spend the money on if I can avoid it) to have them take a look at my issue.

Have you tried the same process but just holding the volume button down.
This should get you to a download screen.

I'm not following you.  Do what you suggested but hold down the volume down button?  If so, I just tried that and that's a no go...

Hold the volume button UP, then plug in power for phone. You should see a boot screen appear.
From there you can hit the volume DOWN to cancel and boot into OS.

No luck still.  I get no display.  I have checked and the cable does work.  Before the Kies, the screen would show and the battery did work.  I can only assume the screen and battery and good since I have no way to test them at this moment.

Customer decided not to fix, but I'm going to assume the UK support would help.
