OK I think is can see the issue, I installed in a domain admin account and not a local admin.. How to I get out of this?

Exchange doesn't use local admin accounts - it will want to use domain account. Furthermore it is a machine setting - it doesn't belong to a user, so it shouldn't matter where the request is imported.

Did you generate a new SSL request? If not, then the file you have is probably useless unless it was a complete certificate (Rather than just a response).

There is nothing special about certificates for an Exchange server, they are regular IIS certificates, but you do need a pending request - which it sounds like you may have, but the file you have doesn't match.

Simon.
