Issue with menu item type not equal to alias

Hello, I installed a new site on my joomla instance and I have a specific menu type for this site. For some reason the alias for the menu type that shows is the long name that is set in the productpage.xml file instead of the alias which is setup in the en.GB.tpl_[name].sys.ini file.

So the full name is TPL_CBGCOMM-PRODUCTS_COM_CONTENT_CATEGORY_VIEW_CATMENUITEM_TITLE="CBGCOMM Product Page Layout"

but its showing TPL_CBGCOMM-PRODUCTS_COM_CONTENT_CATEGORY_VIEW_CATMENUITEM_TITLE

I'm not having this issue with any of my other sites but some reason joomla does not like the alias title.

Any help would be great. I'm using Joomla 2.5

have you copied this joomla site from another site/server?
it sounds like some folders with relevant files are missing.
