we have seen too many issues with ext4 and redhat 6.5.after switching to XFS the database is performing at its best..
Now we need to make sure that we are getting the best out of XFS for redhat
how can we do that?

Also how can we determine if we have CIO running with our redhat 6.5 oracle 11g and XFS file system?

mount options

/dev/mapper/oracle_scripts_vg-oracle_scripts_lv on /u002 type xfs (rw,noatime,nobarrier,inode64,logbsize=256k)
/dev/mapper/oracle_data_vg-oracle_data_lv on /u003 type xfs (rw,noatime,nobarrier,inode64,logbsize=256k)
/dev/mapper/oracle_arch_redo_vg-oracle_arch_redo_lv on /u004 type xfs (rw,noatime,nobarrier,inode64,logbsize=256kg)
/dev/mapper/oracle_redo1_vg-oracle_redo1_lv on /u005 type xfs (rw,noatime,nobarrier,inode64,logbsize=256kg)
/dev/mapper/oracle_rman1_vg-oracle_rman1_lv on /u010 type xfs (rw,noatime,nobarrier,inode64,logbsize=256kg)
/dev/mapper/oracle_redo2_vg-oracle_redo2_lv on /u015 type xfs (rw,noatime,nobarrier,inode64,logbsize=256kg)

You need to try all FILESYSTEMIO_OPTIONS

    ASYNCH -> aio api that leaves write request and gets signal when that is done, makes good use of NCQ
    DIRECTIO -> skips journal
    SETALL -> both
    NONE -> neither

Also noatime/relatim mount options help a lot, as you already have set it up

relatime is haldfof noatime, that makes mail and news work (not needed for oracle, you have the best option selected)

Also you might want to try Oracle Enterprise Linux UEK kernel, it has much newer kernel and xfs code.
