asked on

alerts for sourceone email journaling not running

im running sourceone email journal for around 4000 users
sometimes if the server gets busy the journaling hangs and stops running
this means a backlog of 1000s of emails in the journal email box.
this also means the journal mailbox grows to a dangerous size
i need to enable some sort of alert to inform me when this happens
i need an alert either on mailbox size or even the amount of mails in the inbox.
or if there is any sourceone alerts im not aware of.
i know i could setup mailbox size alerts, but an alert once a day is no good and to set any more i would need to change the settings for all users which i dont want to do

Take a look at the below link which provides details on how to setup a Transport Rule to auto email an Administrator when any of the quota's are reached.

Configure Mailbox Quota - Email Administrators

but a user only gets an email once a day when they have reached their quota
this setting can be increased but only for the complete database which i wouldnt want
To accomplish what you are looking for you will need to use some 3rd party product like Exchange Server Monitor by ManageEngine or PFTG Exchange Monitoring which have built in email/monitoring. They both have free trials so you can try both and see which one fits your needs/budget.

Exchange Server Monitor by ManageEngine

Or

PRTG Exchange Monitoring
