Camcorder Recommendations Appx $200 - 300 - Canon VIXIA HF R400? Others?

I need a camcorder for about $200 - $250.
I'd like to be able to "white balance" my shots.
I like what I've seen the R400 do.  Which is why I'm asking about it.
Ideally, I'd like to plug in an external mike which this camera has.
I'd also like to put a "skylight" or "UV" filter on the camera to protect the actual lens. the R400 has NO THREAD for filter mount!

OR

should I buy an I.P. camera and use my PC as a recording device?  Are there any pc-attachable cameras that offer the above features?

Hi brothertruffle880, may I steer you towards a digital camera instead of a camcorder.
Having a camcorder JVC expensive cumberson and not that user friendly once I tried something else.
the Video needs to be converted from .mod or .mov.
I also have a Panasonic camera expensive as well,
So there came a time just before Christmas 2013 that I needed a 2nd camera as there two people here and often all cameras are out.
Nikon CoolPix S6500
So this is my 2nd camera and since I'm in Australia prices will vary.
I bought it from BigW for under 200 dollars with upgraded memory, the memory upgrade added another 30 dollars or so.
Most digital cameras allow you to upgrade the internal memory as well.
It includes white balancing from the menue but I set it to auto
I am very impressed with video shoots and pictures they are crystal clear, it even has facial detection so that a persons face is always in the camera correctly.
It connects to my computer via USB or wireless.
It has internal mic and the recording picks up the voices perfectly.
So no need to add a mic.
No thread for a mounted filter either  nor is it required as the lens folds out when turned on and folds back in again when truned off.
I reccomend it based on my own personl experiences.
Have a look at it's impressive features for the price it's brilliant.

Here's the manual, again their guides a full of details and the service excellent.
It's 12 megs so if your not sure just leave it.
But this manual will show the capabilities of this very affordable camera.

Take a quick look at this question on EE I commented in about my cameras.
I included a screenshot of the media that comes with it and one of the photos I took with it on the  ViewNX 2..video editor and image editor
