Outlook 2013 crashes on IMAP sync Windows 8.1

Can anyone suggest answer.
I'm not keen on completely reinstalling and losing a lot of my current outlook setup.
Most often than not, when I open Outlook when sync starts, an error dialog is opened "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working" with no other options than debug or close program.

You could try running a repair from the add remove section of 8.1.

There are ,however,some patches from good old M$ that can cause this.

Here are some hotfixes that may help.

I back revved all my customers to Ol2K10 as the patches that M$ has released the past couple of times have been dreadful.

thanks very much.
I had tried a repair from a third party installer/uninstaller, which hadn't solved it.
Doing the same in control panel, and using change option, seems to have worked (so far).
I the error returns i'll try your other suggestions.
