It should add from the network properties window. However, if it will not do that, run System File Checker to see if you can restore it.

Run SFC /SCANNOW and allow to complete. Restart and test.

Also try to use Windows Recovery and restore to the point prior to deleting the client (that date).

thanks, thinkPads_user.

I have done sfc and restore couldnt find a date earlier than the date it was broken... I know back in xp, there is a long detailed way to fix in in the registry and i couldnt find similar for win7 on the web... any suggestions?
First, go to your computer manufacturer's site and get the Ethernet driver for your computer.

Now go to Device Manager and uninstall the Wired Network LAN Adapter.

Shut down. Start up and it should discover the Wired NIC. If it installs it, great. If not you have the driver above. In any case install the Wired NIC.

Restart again and test.

done exacty as you suggested... NIC was installed successfully but within the loca area connection properties, i do not see client for microsoft.
and when i click install button and click add and selected client for microsoft, i get the same error mention in the begining of this post....
It appears the person did more damage than we suspect.  The next step after all the above is to do a Windows Repair Install.  Here is Seven Forums Tutorial that will assist you with this.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

See if that helps. Be sure to back up first.

sorry to mention, this is a lenovo thinkcenter small factor profile pc.  could i use the repaire option within?
Yes, you should be able to do that, but be certain to back up files first.

@mwauki - You are most welcome and I was happy to help. I understand the work of reinstalling an operating system, but I am pleased your system is working.
