Would like to create a link that opens an outlook message

Good Morning Experts!
I am using Access 2K on Windows XP Pro systems.

I have a routine that inspects mail in my MS Outlook 2k Inbox and moves messages of concern to a sub folder of the Inbox called NewMail.  The routine also creates a log file of mail moved in a table called logNewMail in the backend of my Access database.

I created a field in logNewMail that I call LinkTo (type hypberlink) were I would like to create a link that allows anyone viewing the logFile to open the message.

Is there a way to link to this message directly?  I'm sure I can save each message as a txt or msg file and then link to it, but it seems like there should be a better way.  Is there?

Thanks.

There is no way to do that. There are a bunch of commandline switches in Outlook, but I'm not sure would even work in such an old Outlook version. Here's the reference.

The only thing you can do is have Outlook open to a specific folder using the /select switch, or you could save the message as a .msg file, and then use the /f switch to open that message

So then you are saying its not possible to link to a email message so that clicking the link will allow the user to read, delete, or reply to the message?

Highfive Gives IT Their Time Back

Highfive is so simple that setting up every meeting room takes just minutes and every employee will be able to start or join a call from any room with ease. Never be called into a meeting just to get it started again. This is how video conferencing should work!

I have been told by a moderator that I will not be allowed to ASK any additional questions unless I give the expert who advised me that I am dreaming the impossible dream credit and points for his response.

I did not close the question or award the points because in the past, experts have told me things could not be done, only to be proven wrong by other experts who later jumped in and solved my problems.

I believe I have seen situations where others have written applications that have allowed automated opening of a specific email message, but I may have been mistaken.

With this said, I appreciate the help from the expert who answered and tried to help, although I HATE the idea that my new work is held up due to a Senior Admin restricting my access because I am being forced to accept an Impossible Dream message as the answer.

I like to dream... and to be creative programming.
