Hi,

I have scenario and need ur expert advice on the same.

Say my company A owns a website A.com and it was not acquired by company B.

Now , we are asked to change the email address from user@A.com to user@B.com in all places.

I do know using find/replace(sed in unix) we can change the occurences.

But i want to understand the key plans we need to do before make the changes...

Please advice.

PS. we are using LDAP.

Thanks,

This is not really an Active Directory thing more of Exchange related. Couple of questions are required.
- What verison of Exchange are both companies running?
- Does email for both companies reside on the same server or different Exchange organizations?
- Can Company A talk to Company B in respect of Forest Trust or IPSec VPN to each others network?

Depending on the questions above, answers will be different.

Answer those questions and we can post back the solution.

Will.

Well depending on the Exchange environment, the high level steps are listed below...

If Company B will be housing email for Company A (comany a mail on company b server) do the following below...
- Point Company A MX records to the external IP of company B mail server or smart host
- On Company B server, create Authoritative Accepted
- Create an email address policy which includes user@companya.com as a secondary address for on-going email
- Mail will then reside in the company B server
