Example source code to build a remote control for windows desktops

Hello Experts,
What would be necessary for my team of four Visual studio programmers to build a simple but very customized remote control for Windows desktop pcs?

What language would you suggest and if there is any other idea or source example ?

PD. We have been paying for logmein and teamviewer and also used free vnc but we would like to have something that addresses directly our needs.

It is basically client - server solution over tcpip. Server is running remotely ... Client send some packet/command (like GetScreen), server make screenshot and compress image. Server then send back compressed image to client which then show it on own screen.
