Email Size Over Limit  - Bounce Message

Our email is processed by a web hosting company  that uses Plesk software. At present if a user is sent an email that is bigger than the maximum size limit it is not delivered and they are not notified that it has not been delivered. We have asked the hosting company if this can be changed so that the sender is notified that the email has not been delivered but they seem either reluctant or unable to do this. I would like to ask other EE users opinion if they think that this is likely to be a technical problem or if it is just a customer relations problem.

Hi John,

When attachements/mails are to big to handle by a provider mostly 2 things can happen, 1) the email gets stuck in outgoing mail (because it never reaches the end) and keep resending giving the user a reasonable clue maybe the mail is to big OR it does get send but then the ISP should send back a NDR stating the mail is to big. So if they are not reieving this, again 2 things can happen, 1) your server classify it as spam and drops it (which you can check in ESM-> Email tracking center) or the provider really is oblivious. In which case you should lookout for a more professional Internet provider/partner that is willing to work for and with you.
