Need some pointers on applying Bootstrap to my ColdFusion page

I'm looking into updating my CF search database page to be friendly with tablets and data phones.

How can apply a Bootstrap template when my search page needs a .cfm for the ColdFusion to process? Frames?

Are there other technologies besides Bootstrap that will be friendlier with ColdFusion?

I am not a CF developer, but bootstrap is basically css and javascript that runs after the page loads.  Server side languages run on the server before the page loads so it should not interfere with the CF side of things.

If you have sites where you load css and libraries like jquery already, there is no issue.   What you may have a hard time doing is converting your site.   You can simply add the css and js files, but you  then need to rethink your css classes and how a page looks on multiple formats.  That will be the hard part.

ColdFusion pages need to end with .cfm

Do I just rename my Bootstrap template page from .html to .cfm?

Or is there another method?

CF runs on the server and not in the browser.   CSS and Javascript run in the browser (unless you are running js serverside).  This means you CF page runs all of the calculations and db functions on the server, then generates html based on your programming and sends it to the browser.  The html is rendered to the browser, then CSS styles are applied and javascript functions manipulate and calculate.

When you are using bootstrap, it is simply a mix of CSS and JS/Jquery.  It will not matter if you use .cfm, .asp, .aspx, .php etc.  It is the rendered html that counts.
